China aims to build a greener and more digital Asia-Pacific region, focusing on reducing energy consumption and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the economy, according to President Xi Jinping in a message delivered by his Minister of Commerce at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Leaders’ Summit in Lima. The message highlights innovation and AI as key drivers of economic growth, while promoting the flow of knowledge and ensuring the smooth operation of international trade chains.

Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of economic development centered on the well-being of the people, where citizens share in the benefits of progress. He also urged all parties to join the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Xi highlighted China’s advances in tax reforms, measures to stimulate consumption, and the removal of restrictions on foreign funds in the manufacturing industry. He also noted the expansion of the visa-free transit policy, which facilitates travel to the country. During his visit to Peru, Xi inaugurated the Chancay Megaport alongside President Dina Boluarte, underscoring the connection between China and Latin America.
