Costa Rica and Israel move toward an FTA: Costa Rica and Israel have decided to continue the negotiation process for a
Free Trade Agreement as part of the Chaves Robles Administration’s efforts to
diversify and strengthen the country’s trade and investment relations. Since March 29,
2023, both countries have expressed their willingness to deepen economic ties, following
the signing of a memorandum of understanding on trade.
This FTA will offer Costa Rica the opportunity to strengthen trade with Israel, a strategic
partner and global leader in innovation in key areas such as semiconductors, digital services
clean energy, and precision agriculture. In addition, the agreement aims to stimulate
foreign investment in these sectors and promote the creation of collaborative partnerships to
develop joint projects in innovation and scientific research, enhancing
Costa Rica’s global competitiveness.
Costa Rica and Israel, both members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the
Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), aim to complement
and leverage their capabilities to generate prosperity and employment through trade and
investment. The Ministry of Foreign Trade will provide timely updates on the progress of
this process.

Let’s keep moving forward with the same energy and commitment that define our collaboration!
